Tape Measures The yellow strip wrapped firmly in hand, She stood on the scales her mother had banned. She had lost, but not noticed with glee, The thin-ness surrounds her, but she couldn't see. She takes the tape, the ruled up line, Circles it around her arm, like twine. She notes the numbers, pencil to paper, Scratching them out with the lead end, tapered. Next the zone of discontent, Where her ribs make a viscious indent. Her lack of breast an obvious sign, At 17, she could nought but whine. Unconfidence

Unconfidence. I peel away from the mirror, defeated, deflated. My appearance I have criticised, slated. I cannot bear to stare at myself So I stare at the pictures on my shelf. Little bits of yesteryear, Before I wished to dissapear. My smile was as bright as a moonlit night, It used to keep the room alight. But slowly and surely, that smile faded, I was left behind, feeling jaded. I didn't look right, I didn't feel good, I felt so unsure, though I knew that I should. Those words were sliced all over my skin, The forbidden fruit, the senseless sin, The tears flowed down like raindrops heavy, I sink down to the floor, unsteady.

I am in a fantabulous mood. I shall share this with you, dA. My mum got me a super awesome Charlotte Hatherley vinyl, for her single, White. The A Side is White, and the B Side is White part deux. ;3 T'was a gift for doing well in exams - revision pays off! Also, she said if I continue to get B's and above, there are more presents. Yay. She said she was going to get me a t-shirt to add to my never ending source of music shirts, but she couldn't find an Alanis shirt or a Charlotte one, but she'll keep looking online c: Can't wait for Alanis to release her new album this summer - that could mean a UK tour, that'd be so freaking cool.
